Ubuntu Woes
Ubuntu Woes
And it had so much potential...
I had a ball at looking at all the great things that Ubuntu was capable of doing on a GUI/usability standpoint.
So I go ahead and get Wubi for Windows which downloads and install Ubuntu on a Windows installation, real simple and easy. My first boot leaves me with a white screen (white screen of death; reference blue screen of death, aka bsod; therefore wsod) and no ability to do anything but burn my cornea from the brightness.
So I do a more "legitimate" thing and burn a CD image of Ubuntu for installation. First, however, I do the test right off the CD which is very nicely offered on the non-alternate version of the OS. Again though, wsod. Regardless I waste my time and install it anyway, same toilet.
So I start my journey with some Ubuntu Forums help. First thing Im suggested to do is burn the alternate Ubuntu installation CD. So I do, and on top of it get the 64 bit version, all around different just to be safe. I install it, samw wsod. I spend a week or so back and forth with the forum guys to no avail until I give up.
I instal Wubi on my lappy instead. It worked! For a few good hours Im having fun with Compiz-Fusion, etc.
The next day the machine powers out during Ubuntu (not Ubuntu related, just no battery and the power went out). Why this should be really a problem unless I was working on an unsaved document it beyond me, but I go ahead and restart the machine on Ubuntu, and it leaves me with a blinking cursor in this terminal-like blackness. So I go ahead and look it up on the Ubuntu forums, all the while learning what its related to and slowly growing inside me the frustration of a flawed piece of crap.
So I immediately booted back into Windows and uninstalled Ubuntu. It shall not cross my path again. What a truely adolescent unrefined piece of crap Linux Ubuntu is. Thanks for wasting my time and reinforcing my confidence in Windows
Ubuntu, linux, crap, shit, sucks
