How to Reset the Brake Warning Light on a 2001 BMW 325Ci


Resetting the System
1. Sit in the front seat of your 2001 BMW 325Ci. Keep the drivers door open.
2. Insert your keys into the ignition.Turn your keys two clicks clockwise to the number 2 position to turn your BMW 325Cis system on without starting the engine.
3. Keep your keys in position 2. Wait 30 seconds to allow your dash lighting system and vehicle computer to adjust. Press your foot on the brake pedal.
4. Turn your BMW 325Ci off so that the system can register repairs that have occurred since your brake warning light first appeared.
5. Turn your keys all the way clockwise in the ignition to restart your 2001 BMW 325Ci. View your dashboard lighting system. Check to make sure the brake warning light is off to ensure that your system is reset.

How to Change the Backup Light Bulb in the BMW M3


1. Turn the engine of the M3 off and open the trunk. Put on a pair of clean gloves.
2. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the clip at the center of the trunk lid.
3. Fold the trim panel downward and pull the bulb socket down to disengage it form the electrical connector.
4. Rotate the bulb to the left and remove it from the bulb socket. Install a replacement bulb into the socket and rotate it to the right to secure it. Reattach the socket to the trunk lid. Once you hear a click, the bulb is secured.
5. Reattach the trim and the clip. Close the trunk lid.

How to Reset the Check Brake Light on a BMW 325


1. Remove the fuse panel cover in your BMW 325. Underneath the cover you will see a large, round, open port that will accept a pinned connector. This is the diagnostic input.
2. Plug the diagnostic reset tool into the port on the fuse panel.
3. Turn the ignition key to the II position, and wait for the flashing light on the reset tool to stop blinking. When it does, the brake warning light will go out.
