Repair Review Car

1. Press the Menu button repeatedly until you see the Settings display. From the settings menu, you have the choice to revert to all the factory settings, or to choose from a sub-menu and reset the individual functions for the Mercedes Benz SL.
2. Select Reset if you want to adjust all the functions, including the navigation system, to factory settings. Factory settings are the defaults set up by the manufacturer. Hold the button for about three seconds. If you want to reset just the navigation system, go to Step 4.
3. Press the Reset button again to confirm the request. This will reset all the sub-menu functions.
4. Press the up or down arrow to select a function from the sub-menu.
5. Select the Nav menu to select from the navigation settings.
6. Click Reset twice to reset the navigation system.

Instructions
1. Get inside the Mercedes Kompressor C180, fasten your seat-belt and put the key into the ignition.
2. Ensure that the transmission of the Mercedes C180 is in the neutral position and that either the hand or foot brake are being applied.
3. Twist the ignition key and start the car.
4. Hold the Mercedes C180 in neutral momentarily until engine speed has steadied, the car is operating normally and has started to warm up for better performance.
5. Shift the Mercedes C180 into either first gear or reverse with the shift stick and with the clutch pressed in fully with your foot, but with a brake still being applied.
6. Remove any C180 braking while slowly easing off the C180 clutch and applying a little gas with the accelerator. Ease down the street in the direction you need to go.

1. Lay a blanket down in the area where the hardtop will be stored. Put the other blanket nearby.
2. Open both doors on the 560SL. Find the latches in each of the four corners of the hardtop where it meets the body of the car. The latches are set into the top of the sides of the body and are flush to the surface when in the closed position. They look similar to hard, plastic, rounded rectangular plugs.
3. Open all four hardtop latches by fitting the tip of an index finger in the groove molded into the end of each latch and pulling up to release.
4. Pull up the seat back-release lever on the drivers seat, and push the seat back down toward the steering wheel.
5. Reach behind the drivers seat, and turn the crank handle of the rear latch counterclockwise until the latch releases. The rear of the hardtop will pop up away from the car body slightly when the rear latch releases.
6. Stand on one side of the vehicle, and have a helper stand on the other side. Lift the hardtop up off the body of the car. Walk toward the rear of the Mercedes together, carrying the hardtop. Once the hardtop is no longer over the car, carry it together to where the blanket is laid down and place it on the blanket.
7. Place the additional blanket over the hardtop to protect it while in storage.

1. Plug the OBD II scan tool connector into the socket to the left and slightly below the steering wheel.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Press the power button on the scan tool, if it does not come on automatically. Wait for the tool to complete the scanning process.
4. Press the Reset or Erase button on the scan tool to reset the computer codes.

1. Park the Mercedes 107 on a flat, level surface and pull the parking brake. Turn off the vehicle.
2. Open the back doors of the Mercedes. Peel the carpet from the rear floor of the Mercedes. Push a screwdriver under the carpet and pull upwards if the carpet sticks the to frame.
3. Locate the wooden panels on top of the mounting points. Remove the panels by prying them off the car. Set the panels aside.
4. Clear any dirt or debris from the mounting points on the floor.
5. Slide the rear seat into the Mercedes. Align the mounting brackets on the Mercedes seat with the mounting points on the floor. Push the seat onto the mounting points.
6. Tighten the brackets with a socket wrench.
7. Install seat belts. Hold the mounting bracket of the seat belt over the mounting point on the side of the car. Fit into place and tighten with a socket wrench.

1. Disconnect the cable running to the negative battery terminal. Loosen the nut on the cable clamp running to the negative battery terminal with a socket wrench and slide the clamp off the terminal.
2. Open the hood and look straight at the front of the engine. You will see a belt that snakes through a system of pulleys. This is the the serpentine belt, also called a drive belt. It needs to be removed in order to remove the alternator. Draw a diagram of the belt path and orientation. You will need this diagram when reinstalling the belt.
3. Remove tension on the drive belt with a socket wrench and a 14mm socket. The tensioner is on the drivers side of the engine, near the front of the engine. The tensioner bolt protrudes out of the engines pulley system at a 45 degree angle, with a little bit of a hex shape at the top of the bolt and a small hole in the middle of the bolt. Turn the bolt counterclockwise to remove tension on the belt.
4. Pull the belt off the pulley system.
5. Remove the electrical connector running to the alternator.
6. Remove the alternator. Remove the upper and lower alternator mounting bolts. The alternator is mounted on the front of the engine.
7. Install the new alternator. Installation is the reverse of removal. Make sure that you orient the drive belt properly when installing it.
8. Attempt to start the engine. As long as the battery was not drained entirely when the alternator failed, you should be able to start the engine. If the battery is dead, you may need to install a new battery. To do this, remove the cable clamps on the battery terminals following the procedure in Step 1. This time, youll be removing both the positive and negative cables. Always remove the negative cable first and attach it last. Once the cable clamps have been removed from the terminal, remove the battery from the battery holder and drop in a new battery. Then, reconnect the battery terminals and tighten the cable clamps.
9. Check to make sure that the battery light does not stay on once the Mercedes is running.

1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery using an adjustable wrench.
2. Insert the Mercedes removal keys in the slots on the left- and right-hand sides of the radio. Push the keys in the slots until they click into place. Pull on the keys and drag the radio unit out of the dashboard housing. Disconnect the wire harness from the rear of the radio by pushing the tab on the edge and pulling the connection apart. Pull out the radio antenna cable. Place the old stereo to one side.
3. Connect the new stereo. Attach the wire harness from the new stereo to the wire harness adapter. Push the connections together until they click into place. Repeat this process attaching the other end of the wire harness adapter to the wire harness from the Mercedes E300. Plug the radio antenna cable into the radio antenna port on the rear of the new stereo.
4. Slide the connected radio into the dashboard housing, taking care not to trap any of the wires. Push the radio into the housing as far as it will go. Reconnect the negative terminal to the car battery. Turn on the new stereo to test the installation.

1. Open the trunk of the 300CE and disconnect the battery with a socket wrench. Remove only the negative terminal.
2. Open the drivers-side door and insert the removal key into the four holes around the climate control unit, making sure the flat side is facing outward when inserting the key. Twist the key to unlock each locking tab.
3. Pull the climate control unit out of the vehicle and disconnect its wiring harness at the rear of the unit. Installation is the reverse of removal.
4. Reconnect the negative battery terminal and close the trunk.

1. Open the hood of the vehicle. Locate the sidelamp light assembly latch between the sidelamp assembly and the main headlight compartment. It is located halfway down from the top of the assembly. Depress the latch and lift the sidelamp light assembly out to the front of the vehicle.
2. Twist the bulb socket located on the back of the sidelamp light assembly in a counterclockwise direction and gently pull it out of the assembly.
3. Remove the side marker bulb by pushing it into the socket and turning it counterclockwise. Insert the new bulb by pushing it into the socket and twisting it clockwise.
4. Place the bulb socket back into the assembly. Reinstall the lamp assembly by sliding the guides located at the top and bottom of the assembly near the front headlamp into the tabs. Make sure it is secured and sealed before closing the hood.

1. Engage the emergency brake. Open the armrest to reveal the inside of the center console storage compartment. Remove personal items from the storage compartment.
2. Remove the two screws connected to the armrest located on the inside of the storage compartment.
3. Remove the cover on the gearshift lever by removing the two screws located near the top of the cup holder compartment.
4. Remove the two screws on the inside of the storage compartment housing on the floor closest to the gear shift.
5. Disconnect the left and right rear window switches located on the rear wall inside the storage compartment. Disconnect the connector from the floor on the inside of the storage compartment.
6. Remove the four remaining screws from the inside of the storage compartment housing. The screws are located near the rear of the housing on the floor. Set the shift lever to neutral and remove the housing.

1. Open your Mercedes hood so you can access the belt. Be sure the engine is cool before operating.
2. Loosen every bolt in the series that binds the belt into place. Take special care to remember the pattern in which the fan belt is attached. This is the same pattern youll follow to route the new fan belt. Do not remove the bolts, simply loosen them so that the belt looses tension at each point.
3. Pull the belt out of each connection, making sure you leave it intact so that you can compare it to the new belt.
4. Stretch the old and new belts out completely with both hands. Compare the size of each belt to make sure the new belt will fit your Mercedes engine.
5. Route the belt along each pulley, following the pattern you took note of when loosening the tension. Press down with a free hand after connecting the belt to each pulley so that you continuously create tension in the belt.
6. Tighten the belt at each point along the pattern by turning the bolts hard to the right, which will hold the belt in place.
7. Clean your workplace and put away all tools. Discard of the old fan belt.
